Matt Danzeisen: Career, Peter Thiel, Age and Biography

Matt Danzeisen is an American investment executive whose career spans investment banking, asset management and private investing. He has worked at Banc of America Securities, BlackRock and Thiel Capital, co-founded South Korea-based Crescendo Equity Partners, and chaired Bridgetown investment vehicles involved in major Southeast Asian technology deals. He is also publicly known as the husband of technology investor Peter Thiel.

His full name is Charles Matthew Danzeisen. UK Companies House records his birth month and year as November 1976, making him 49 as of October 7, 2026. That date is consistent with a 2022 SEC filing that listed him as 45 at the time. Companies House records also identify him as American.

What does Matt Danzeisen do now?

Danzeisen remains publicly associated with Thiel Capital. In April 2026, Argentina’s presidential office described him as a Thiel Capital portfolio manager when he joined Peter Thiel for a meeting with President Javier Milei at Casa Rosada.

Three months later, Bloomberg’s caption for a July 2026 appearance at the Allen & Company conference in Sun Valley described Danzeisen as head of private investments at Thiel Capital. The wording differs slightly, but both descriptions place him in a senior investment role at the firm in 2026.

That current role fits a much longer history. A Bridgetown 3 SEC filing described Danzeisen as head of private investments at Thiel Capital, focused primarily on private companies and investment funds in the United States and Asia.

From investment banking to BlackRock

Danzeisen’s finance career began well before his marriage to Thiel made his name more widely recognizable.

According to the SEC filing, he worked as an investment banker at Banc of America Securities from 2000 to 2001. He then moved to BlackRock, where he served from 2002 to 2008 as a vice president and portfolio manager in fixed income.

That background placed him inside two different parts of finance: transaction-oriented investment banking and institutional portfolio management. In 2008, he moved into the Thiel investment network, joining Thiel Capital and its predecessor, Clarium Capital Management.

The same SEC biography says Danzeisen graduated from Cornell University with a degree in Finance and a minor in Economics and became a CFA charterholder. The filings do not establish a reliable graduation year, so more precise claims about when he completed his degree should be treated cautiously.

Asia became a major part of his investment career

Asia is one of the clearest themes in Danzeisen’s professional record.

In a 2021 SEC-filed PropertyGuru investor presentation, he said: “I run a lot of Thiel Capital’s efforts in Asia.” He went on to discuss work beginning in Japan and Korea before expanding into Southeast Asia.

That focus helps explain his involvement with Crescendo Equity Partners, a South Korea-based private-equity firm he co-founded in 2012. A January 2022 SEC filing said Crescendo had by then raised more than $1.5 billion for investments across South Korea and Southeast Asia.

The amount is a firm-level fundraising figure, not Danzeisen’s personal wealth. It is also a dated figure from early 2022, not a statement of Crescendo’s current assets under management.

A 2025 FINRA BrokerCheck report also lists Charles Matthew Danzeisen as a director of Trumid Holdings LLC, with that relationship dating to October 2015. That provides another regulatory record connecting his full legal name with the investment executive known publicly as Matt Danzeisen.

Bridgetown, PropertyGuru and MoneyHero

Danzeisen also became closely involved with the Bridgetown special-purpose acquisition companies backed by Thiel Capital and Pacific Century.

He served as chairman of Bridgetown 2, which completed a business combination with PropertyGuru in March 2022. The SEC-filed completion announcement reported approximately US$254 million in proceeds, with an enterprise value of about US$1.36 billion and an equity value of about US$1.61 billion.

In October 2023, Bridgetown completed another combination, this time with MoneyHero. The MoneyHero SEC filing reported roughly US$100 million in gross proceeds, with post-money enterprise and equity values of about US$310 million and US$283 million, respectively.

These figures show the scale of the transactions Danzeisen helped oversee, but they should not be confused with his personal net worth.

Matt Danzeisen and Peter Thiel

Danzeisen is married to Peter Thiel, the technology investor and entrepreneur associated with PayPal, Palantir and Founders Fund.

Axios reported in October 2017 that Thiel and Danzeisen held a wedding in Vienna, where guests had expected to attend a celebration connected with Thiel’s 50th birthday. Thiel’s spokesman declined to comment at the time.

There is an important legal distinction in how that event should be described. Austria’s official marriage guidance says same-sex couples became able to marry in Austria from January 1, 2019. For that reason, it is safer to say that Axios reported a wedding in Vienna in 2017 rather than asserting that the couple obtained an Austrian civil marriage there that year.

Their relationship remains publicly current. Getty Images identified Danzeisen as Thiel’s husband when the pair appeared together at the Allen & Company conference in Sun Valley on July 9, 2026.

How old is Matt Danzeisen?

Danzeisen was born in November 1976, according to Companies House. That makes him 49 years old on October 7, 2026, with his 50th birthday falling later in November.

This matters because online biographies have published conflicting birth years. The November 1976 record is supported not only by Companies House but also by the SEC filing that listed Danzeisen as 45 in January 2022.

No reliable public record establishes his exact day of birth.

Does Matt Danzeisen have children?

Family details are less clear than his professional history.

Reuters reported in April 2023 that Thiel and Danzeisen had two toddlers at that time. Later reporting about Thiel’s family has referred to four children, but it does not clearly establish that all four are Danzeisen’s children.

For that reason, a definitive current child count for Danzeisen should not be stated. Claims about children’s names, genders, birthdays, schools or other private details are also not necessary to understand his public profile.

What is Matt Danzeisen’s net worth?

There is no reliably established public figure for Matt Danzeisen’s personal net worth.

His senior investment roles, involvement in private-equity funds and participation in large transactions show a substantial finance career, but they do not reveal his personal balance sheet. Crescendo fundraising, Bridgetown transaction values, sponsor shareholdings and Peter Thiel’s wealth are separate figures and cannot simply be added together or treated as Danzeisen’s fortune.

That distinction is especially important in SPAC filings, where an executive can be treated as a beneficial owner of sponsor shares because of management control while expressly disclaiming ownership beyond any actual economic interest.

Why Matt Danzeisen was in the news in 2026

Danzeisen had several notable public appearances in 2026. In April, he joined Peter Thiel at the Casa Rosada meeting with Argentine President Javier Milei. In July, he appeared with Thiel at the Allen & Company conference in Sun Valley.

He was also involved in a federal civil dispute with former flight attendant Stefanie Bojar. Danzeisen filed a lawsuit against Bojar in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California on May 7, 2026. A public docket record confirms the filing.

In July, WIRED reported on later court filings in which Bojar alleged that Danzeisen assaulted her during a 2024 private-jet flight and brought related civil claims. Danzeisen disputes her account and, in his own filing, characterized the contact involving a cooler bag as accidental while accusing Bojar of trying to extort him and Thiel.

Those are competing allegations in civil litigation, not established findings of fact. As of the latest public material reflected here, no final judicial determination of those disputed claims had been established.

Danzeisen’s public profile is therefore more substantial than the shorthand description “Peter Thiel’s husband” suggests. His documented career runs from Banc of America Securities and BlackRock through Thiel Capital, South Korean private equity and large Southeast Asian technology transactions. At the same time, some of the most frequently searched details about him, especially personal wealth and family information, remain much less certain than his professional record.
