Mike Dobinson, also referred to as Michael Dobinson in wedding coverage, is a businessman with a documented background in Brighton’s hospitality industry. He is best known publicly as the husband of British comedian Maisie Adam. The couple became engaged in 2021 and married on 10 June 2023.
Adam said in interviews in 2021 and 2022 that Mike ran a cocktail bar in Brighton. By October 2025, Radio Times described him more broadly as a businessman while Adam said the couple were living together in Brighton. His exact current job has not been publicly confirmed.
Who is Mike Dobinson?
Dobinson has attracted public interest largely through his relationship with Adam, rather than through a media career of his own. He has appeared occasionally in coverage of their engagement, wedding and life in Brighton, but there is relatively little reliable information about his early life.
Details sometimes repeated online about his birthplace, education and age are not firmly established for Adam’s husband. There are several professionals called Mike or Michael Dobinson, and some online profiles appear to combine information belonging to different people.
What is clear is his connection to Brighton. In a December 2021 interview with the Evening Standard, Adam identified Mike as her partner and said he ran a cocktail bar in the city. The Observer independently reported the same occupation in July 2022, when Adam described their life and working schedules in Brighton.
An earlier 2019 interview with Beyond The Joke had already recorded Adam saying she lived in Brighton with a boyfriend who ran a cocktail bar, although that article did not name him.
What does Mike Dobinson do?
The strongest publicly documented part of Dobinson’s career is hospitality.
Adam described him as running a Brighton cocktail bar during interviews published in 2021 and 2022. Her comments also offered small glimpses of what that work involved. During the Covid lockdown period, she spoke about living with someone who was regularly experimenting with new cocktails, while the Observer later noted that his bar work could keep him out late, much like Adam’s evening comedy schedule.
An August 2022 episode of the Off Menu podcast has also been associated with the Brighton venue Shuffle. A third-party transcript of the episode records Adam referring to the bar while recounting how she met her future husband. Because that detail has not been confirmed through an official published transcript, it is safer to treat Shuffle as a reported identification rather than a definitive part of his employment record.
By October 2025, Radio Times described Dobinson simply as a “businessman”. The publication did not identify his employer, company or specific industry at that point.
That means claims that he currently works as a software developer, marketing executive or technology founder should be treated cautiously. His specific occupation as of September 2026 is not publicly established.
Mike Dobinson and Maisie Adam
Adam and Dobinson were publicly engaged by December 2021. The Evening Standard reported the engagement after Adam shared an image of her engagement ring and identified Mike as the man she was due to marry.
Their relationship had already become part of Adam’s occasional stories about life in Brighton. In interviews, she mentioned his interest in Formula One, their contrasting late-night work patterns and the cocktail experiments taking place at home. She also said Mike helped maintain the distinctive closely shaved hairstyle she became known for during the pandemic.
The couple’s life together has remained closely associated with Brighton. In October 2025, Adam told Radio Times that she and her husband were living in a small flat in the city.
Their June 2023 wedding
Mike Dobinson and Maisie Adam married on Saturday, 10 June 2023.
Contemporaneous Press Association coverage referred to him by his fuller name, Michael Dobinson, and reported that the wedding took place the day before Adam appeared at Soccer Aid at Old Trafford. Chortle separately reported on the marriage and published wedding imagery showing the couple on Brighton seafront.
The timing gave Adam an unusually busy weekend. Less than a day after getting married, she travelled to Manchester to play for the World XI in the charity football match. During the Soccer Aid broadcast, Adam said she had been more nervous about the match than the wedding.
Photographs place the couple in their wedding clothes on Brighton seafront, although the exact ceremony venue has not been reliably established.
Did Mike Dobinson and Maisie Adam meet at a bar?
Adam has publicly told a story about meeting the man who became her fiancé at a Brighton cocktail bar.
A transcript of her 2022 Off Menu appearance describes her visiting the venue with friends, speaking to the man working there and later meeting him again for drinks. The same transcript identifies the venue as Shuffle.
The broad account fits the independently confirmed fact that Dobinson ran a Brighton cocktail bar. However, because the detailed wording currently comes from an unofficial transcript rather than a publisher-issued version, the precise venue and meeting story are best described as Adam’s reported account rather than treated as independently established biographical facts.
Is Mike Dobinson connected to BarByte?
One of the more persistent claims about Dobinson online involves BarByte Ltd, a Brighton-registered company.
Companies House records show that a British man named Michael Dobinson became a director of BarByte Ltd when it was incorporated on 27 November 2023. Those records give that director a birth date in April 1993. The company later filed dormant accounts, applied for voluntary strike-off in November 2025 and was dissolved on 24 February 2026.
What the Companies House record does not establish is that this Michael Dobinson is Maisie Adam’s husband.
That distinction matters because multiple people share the name. Another Michael Dobinson has a well-documented marketing career associated with Secret Escapes, including an education history dating to 2004–07. That record plainly cannot belong to the BarByte director born in 1993, showing how easily separate professional histories can be merged online.
For that reason, Dobinson should not be described as BarByte’s founder or director without a stronger link connecting Adam’s husband to the company record.
How old is Mike Dobinson?
Dobinson’s age has not been reliably established in public sources tied directly to him.
The April 1993 birth date sometimes associated with his name comes from the Companies House record for the BarByte director. Because that director has not been conclusively identified as Maisie Adam’s husband, using the date to calculate Dobinson’s age would go beyond what is confirmed.
The same caution applies to claims about his birthplace, schooling and university education.
What is Mike Dobinson’s net worth?
There is no reliable public figure for Mike Dobinson’s net worth.
Various websites have published estimates, but they do not provide enough evidence about his income, business ownership, investments, assets or debts to support a meaningful calculation. There is therefore no sound basis for attaching a specific net-worth figure to him.
What is Mike Dobinson doing now?
The most recent strong source naming Dobinson directly is Radio Times’ October 2025 interview with Maisie Adam. It described him as a businessman and said the couple were living together in Brighton.
More recent reporting from September 2026 continued to place Adam in Brighton and included her referring publicly to her mother-in-law, consistent with the couple’s established family life. It did not, however, provide a new description of Dobinson’s work.
For now, the reliable public picture is straightforward: Mike Dobinson is Maisie Adam’s husband, he previously ran a cocktail bar in Brighton, and he was described as a businessman in 2025. More detailed claims about his current career, age, education or wealth remain unconfirmed.
